Diversity For White Men (And All Those) Who Lead

There are six million white men who hold leadership jobs in America. Everyone has a stake in white men understanding the business case and the career advantage in diversity. Diversity is defined, the positive power in leadership work is pursued, specific behaviors of courage are considered so fear is faced, and diversity-related performance objectives are proposed. The emphasis is on "100% Inclusion: Results When Every Leader Steps Up On Diversity, Including White Men."

Political Correctness Hurts Business: How To Lead With Respect And Candor

The idea of political correctness speaks to the tension between using words respectfully and saying what needs to be said. Every leader must sort through this false choice, because respect and candor depend on one another. Focus on avoiding words that wound by matching intent with impact; by providing corrective feedback without worrying about accusations of bias; and, during hiring and promotion decisions, leading constructive conversations about qualifications and diversity.

Building Trust, The Critical Skill For Leading On Diversity

Trust is the making and keeping of promises over time. Trust is also the single most important outcome of leading on diversity effectively. Drill into trust-building in four management tasks: hiring, employee development, conflict resolution, and decision-making. Possible pre-work includes a survey to measure team trust. Also considered: the repercussions of distrust, and how to make promises that cause diverse colleagues to reciprocate.
